The
twentieth century left Venezuela with the worst tragedy that happened
in Latin America. Mud, rocks and trees came down the mountains and destroyed
everything in their path, the state of Vargas and the Central Coast were
devastated. Thousands of persons died and thousands more became refugees
and many of them lost their families. In Caracas, and the states Miranda,
Falcon and Yaracuy the floodings and mudslides were also extensive and
took numerous lives. In a spontaneous way, many Venezuelan persons living
in The Netherlands, with the support of the Venezuelan Embassy, took action
to collect clothes, medicines and food. The pain that I felt seeing the
brothers and sisters of my country in such a tragic situation inspired
me to compose these songs, with which I wanted to bring a message of hope
and support for the recovery of Venezuela. The money collected from the
sales of the CD went to the account number 7447 "Slachtoffers modderstroom
Venezuela" from the Dutch Red Cross. I feel privileged that through
the music we could help our people and in the name of Venezuela I would
like to thank you for having supported this initiative. "Reconstrucción"
is a piece, which invites to reflect about the historical political and
social problems of Venezuela. "Reconstrucción" invites
to look back at a past full of egoism and corruption and tells about the
need to change to a future of brotherhood, honesty and humanity. This
tragedy taught us to be a unity without distinctions of social class,
color, religion or politic preference. "¡Ay! Venezuela"
gives a message of support and solidarity to our people. "Descarga
por la Vida" is a piece full of strength and cheerfulness, main characteristics
of Venezuelan people. With it, we want to express the joy of life and
the wish to |
